The storm will pass near or over the Virgin Islands Saturday into Saturday night and eventually accelerate northward. Rafael will then pass near Bermuda on Tuesday. This path will prevent Rafael from affecting the United States mainland directly.
Tropical storm warnings have been issued for portions of the Lesser Antilles, including the Virgin Islands and the Puerto Rican islands of Culebra and Vieques. A tropical storm watch remains in effect for the rest of Puerto Rico.
