A government lawyer acknowledged Monday that the Trump administration will miss its first court-imposed deadline to reunite about 100 immigrant children under age 5 with their parents. Department of Justice attorney Sarah Fabian said during a court hearing that federal authorities reunited two families and expect to reunite an additional 59 by Tuesday’s deadline. She said the other cases are more complicated, including parents who have been deported or are in prison facing criminal charges, and would require more time to complete reunions. U.S. District Judge Dana Sabraw, who ordered the administration to reunite families separated as part of President Donald Trump’s “zero tolerance” immigration policy, said he will hold another hearing Tuesday morning to get an update on the remaining cases. He said he was encouraged to see “real progress” in the complicated reunification process after a busy weekend when officials from multiple federal agencies tried to sync up parents and children who are spread across the country. I do recognize that there are some groups of parents who are going to fall into a category where it’s impossible to reunite by tomorrow,” he said. “I am very encouraged by the progress. I’m optimistic.” Lee Gelernt, an American Civil Liberties Union attorney who leads a lawsuit against the federal government, sounded more skeptical. When asked by the judge if he believed the government was in full compliance of the court order, Gelernt said there was much more work to be done. “Let me put it this way: I think the government in the last 48 hours has taken significant steps,” he said. “We just don’t know how much effort the government has made to find released parents. I don’t think there’s been full compliance.” U.S. District Judge Dana Sabraw, based in San Diego. U.S. District Judge Dana Sabraw, based in San Diego. (Photo: U.S. District Court) The difficulty in reuniting the first 100 children shows the challenge that lies ahead as the Trump administration braces for another deadline in two weeks to reunite nearly 3,000 older children – up to age 17 – with their parents. The process is complicated because of all the different situations that emerged over the weekend. The government initially identified 102 children under age 5 who needed to be reunited but removed three children from that list because investigations into their cases revealed that those children came with adults who were not their parents, Fabian said. Twelve parents were found to be in federal and state custody on criminal charges, making a reunification impossible since the government can’t transfer minors to state and local prisons to protect the well-being of the child. Nine parents were deported, and the government established contact with only four of them, Fabian said. Four children had been scheduled to be released from government custody to relatives who weren’t their parents, leading the government to question whether to allow that process to be completed or to redirect the child back to a parent. Gelernt said he understood many of the hurdles but urged the judge to force the government to scrap its time-consuming investigation into every single case and start a 48-hour clock to reunify families that remain separated by Tuesday. Sabraw said he would decide that during Tuesday’s hearing. Fabian said one of the silver linings of the busy weekend is that her office worked closely with its challengers at the ACLU to share information on each child’s case, to ensure that representatives from immigration advocacy groups and volunteer organizations could be present during each reunification. Gelernt said they’re doing that to help the parents, who are often released from custody with no money and nowhere to go. Fabian said that coordination has led to a more formalized process between government agencies and with the immigrants’ lawyers that should make reunifications go more smoothly in the coming weeks. “I think this process over the weekend helped us see what information, and in what form, is the most useful to share,” she said. “I’d like to make that as efficient a process as possible.” -

QC (2)

By Jean-Wisly Simon

Ayiti ap pran pataswel apre pataswel anba men la nati.  Apre la pli tanpet Sandy fi n fe ravaj nan zon Sid Ayiti, la pli tonbe nan No ak No Es, inondasyon, byen materyel pedi epi moun mouri anko!

Mwen swete ou prye ak kenbe moun ki afte yo nan panse w. Elas!

Pou zafe katastwof  natirel la, li nomal. Men se lot katastwof ki pired epi pi tris. Sa fe m panse a eleksyon kap fet depi apre 7 fevrye 86 yo epi eleksyon pou Prezidan kapral fet an 2016 yo, an Ayiti. Nou pa eli dirijan yo paske yo genyen yon bagay yo di yo vle fe nan peyi. Nou menm rive mete Prezidan ki di “mwen pap fe pwomes” an 2 mo 3 pawol eli m pou fom tet mwen.

Nou genyen anpil rezon nan istwa peyi a pou n ta kanpe ap bat lestomak nou. Men, atansyon pa Jodi a paske pov ak kwiy nan kalfou oswa devan legliz pa janm bat lestomak! Anplis nou pa konte sou senkob chada nou, men sou dola vet yo genyen?

Depi kek tan, Ayti pi pal ke yon pov devan legliz. Gouvenman Ayiti se pran lajan kreye gwo pos nan leta, peye 50 a 70 Minis, secrete deta, direkte elatrye. Aloske mize a ap ogmante. Ti krik ti krak, kote kominote entenasyonal ban nou ed (lajan).

Nou eli moun ki pa prepare pou vi n dirijan yon peyi enpotan tankou Ayiti (istwal enpotan). Gade konpotman Depite, Senate ak Prezidan pa ekzanp, di m, sa w we? Le wa l kanpe devan yon mirwa sa ou we? Kek nan yo genyen volonte men yo pat pare pou sa ni yo pa deside pou aprann vit! Mize ap bat ba eskandal an kaskad sou do Ayiti.

Mwen pa kwe genyen okenn moun ki k fe mirak an Ayiti. Men si n anpeche eskandal nou ta ka rive bay zot espwa.

Nou prefere ed ak jere ijans olye nou chita pou n ranmase senkob diskob pou n planifye avni nou. Ekzanp, nou kreye gwo gouvenman avek anpil gwo bwa, plis gwo chek ap soti nan kez leta.

Nou pa konnen pou konbyen tan fos UN yo la. Nou refize konte senkob diskob ki pou pemet nou genyen yon fos 50 a 70 mil om pou garanti sekirite 10 milyon moun. Olye nou ogmante Polis la pi vit nou ogmante gouvenman an pito. Majorite nan yo genyen Polisye kom sekirite, sann pa blye Senate ak Depite genyen polis kom sekirite tou.

La Polis Nasyonal D’Ayiti mare sousi l, BRAVO! Mafia anvayi Ayiti. Le sete soyet nou panse nou ta derasinen l, nou aprann se moun ki genyen siyati kibo nou prale? Yo konnen tout moun ki genyen lajan labank. Yo konnen ki moun ki vi n pran lajan. Zot ta di nou mele! Men moun ap pase peyi a ap rete. Konsa genyen espwa.

Sanble an 2016 nou k genyen yon lot jenerasyon ki vle Prezidan. Mwen we Senate, Jounalis, Atis (anko), ak pati politik tradisyonel yo, sann pa kote kek manm sekte prive a…  Men kite m site kek non.

Steven I. Benoit, Senate. Le n gade rezilta eleksyon Senate Benoit a, Senate a sanble yon gwo moso nan nenpot eleksyon prezidan sil chwazi Kandida (La Route Pour le Palais National). Aktivite politik li sanble ak yon pesonalite kap montre li genyen kapasite pou dirije sosyete a.

Yon lot pesonalite, si pa ekzanp,Jounalis Daly Valet ta deside kandida pou prezidan. Akoz opinyon l ak eksperyans li montre le l lap pale, li k ede bay eleksyon prezidansyel 2016 yo yon lot sans. Nan k Mr. Valet a, mwen remake li tre aktiv nan anpil kwen nan peyi a. Epi li bay pozisyon pesonel li sou plizye gwo dosye kap brase nan peyi a. Politikman,  jes li yo sanble yon mayon nan chenn prezidansyel 2016 yo. Fok mwen di w se konsa, politik fet an Amerik di No.

Wiclef Jean, Atis, lite pran kane an 2010, mwen pa kwe lap pran kane an 2016. Ou k sonje baz li sete nan Lwes. Li k yon gwo moso tou, men moun k di Atis anko? Selman, plizye atik soti sou jan li jere Oganizasyon kitap jere lajan l te ranmase yo (li toujou defann tet li). Li genyen mwayen?

Medam yo nan peyi a, montre yo genyen anpil fos. Ansyen Senatris Edmonde S. Beauzil, chef pati politik FUSION, montre konvisyon ak deteminasyon pandan pasaj li nan Sena a. Li sete sel fanm nan Sena Ayiti.

Pati politik yo tankou FANMI LAVALAS, OPL, GUID…, rejim Prezidan Martelly a, lot sekte yo k toujou genyen kandidan pa yo.

Men sonje se politik kap fet.

Si 2 ou 3 nan pesonalite sa yo rive kandida plis sa n poko we yo, mwen garanti nou nap genyen yon lot imaj de Ayiti menm avan Prezidan an enstale nan Palais Nasyonal an 2016. Si vot sitwayen yo konte. Rezon mwen genyen pou sa, mwen santi anpil moun ta renmen we Ayiti avanse pi devan, men pa fe bak an arye.

Mwen seten Ayisyen kap viv nan lot peyi yo, ap we patisipasyon yo kom Ayisyen nan politik Ayiti nan dat sa a. Kanpay elektoral pou Prezidan an 2016 ap genyen deba sou kisa peyi a bezwen. Konsa fok pesonalite sa yo k montre ki jan yo konpran politik ak ki wol relasyon entenasyonal jwe nan la vi politik an Ayiti.

Depi fondasyon l, Ayiti pa janm rete tann moun fe pou li, Ayiti fe pou tout sila yo lite ka bay men pou ede yo leve kanpe! Ayiti pat kreye pou l te tounen mandyan, men kom yon gid!
