QC has learned that Susan Rice the US ambassador to the UN decided to withdraw her name as eventual Secretary of State candidate to replace Mrs. Clinton who will step down soon.
President Obama accepted her request, “While I deeply regret the unfair and misleading attacks on Susan Rice in recent weeks, her decision demonstrates the strength of her character, and an admirable commitment to rise above the politics of the moment to put our national interests first.”
Ambassador Rice was considered as the frontrunner for the post; Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts could be the next frontrunner for Secretary of State, but that will trigger a special in the state where former Senator Scott Brown who lost his seat last November might represent the GOP.
