Children shot and perhaps killed at Connecticut school: report

QC News Alert, 12:15 PM ET

“..Local news reports suggest that several people may have been killed. It is also reported that there are some children among the victims, although it is not clear whether they are among any dead…”

–A shooter opened fire at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut, on Friday, killing several people including children, the Hartford Courant newspaper reported.

The shooter was also killed, the Courant said.

Sandy Hook Elementary School teaches children from kindergarten through fourth grade – roughly ages 5 to 10.

Television images showed police and ambulances at the scene, and parents rushing toward the school. Parents were seen reuniting with their children and taking them home….

Senator-elect Chris Murphy said,”I am shocked and saddened by the horrific news from Sandy Hook Elementary School this morning, and I pray that kids, teachers, staff, and families reach safety as quickly as possible. While we don’t have much information right now, our thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones.”
