Senator Rubio’s response and the bottle of water!

Rubio credit MSNBC

By Jean-Wisly Simon

An undergrad student speech may show all the characteristics that Senator Rubio’s had exhibited last night while giving the GOP’s response to the President state of the union address. His body language, his tone and his “famous bottle of water” showed the opposite of what we’ve been told all along. Clearly, we do have a picture to look at or video to watch after last night speech.

Although people do not really give/pay too much attention to the opposite party’s response to any seating President speech in US, but politically that response and the messenger could have positive or negative impact on public opinion.

We always say, “A picture worth a thousand words”, right? When Senator Rubio tried to reach a bottle of water in the middle of his speech that was the climax of his agony last night. That itself explains everything about his tone and how uncomfortable he was during ‘his primetime speech’.

If he were giving that speech as an undergrad student, he would get a B for the content, a C- for delivery and a C for body language. Thus, the GOP’s response by Senator Rubio of Florida did not meet expectations. The Senator’s body language exhibits his calamities from start to finish.

After all, even though his performance as a response to the President state of the union address was similar to an undergrad student speech, Senator Rubio has many qualities that his party could use in the following months and years. Until then, he has enough time to watch and re-watch his last night performance whether he would take the road among the GOP’s eventual presidential contenders in 2016 or as a surrogate of the conservative branch of the party. In the meantime, we have a picture or video of him to enjoy, “…He was trying to reach a bottle of water in the middle of his response to the President state of the union address on 2/12/13.”
