On Sunday, police investigated a robbery on the 1500 block of South Congress Avenue, just north of Linton Boulevard.

A man told police he was speaking with two men who were in a car outside a barbershop when the driver, later identified as Hilaire, grabbed the man’s iPhone 6 out of his hands and drove off. After the man called police, he used a friend’s cellphone and logged into “Find My iPhone.” The feature allows those with Apple devices to log in, see where their device is through GPS, see where it has been and lock the device so no one can use it, according to Apple’s website.

Police went to the phone’s last location at a Sunoco gas station, just off South Federal Highway and south of Atlantic Boulevard, and found Hilaire, who matched the description given. When police approached him, the report says he “spontaneously uttered, ‘I was just playing with him.’ ”

Hilaire explained he was going to give it back to him after he finished filling up with gas. He told police his phone had died and he just needed it to call his girlfriend and a few other people. The man whose phone was stolen told police he did not know Hilaire or the other man in the car.

Hilaire was previously arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, fraud, resisting an officer, drug possession and aggravated assaul
