US teenager wins $3m playing computer game Fortnite

A US teenager has won a record-breaking $3m (£2.4m) to become world champion of the computer game Fortnite. It is the largest prize pool in the history of e-sports, with $30m shared amongst the winners. Kyle Giersdorf, 16, won the solo event of the competition in the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York, which hosts the US Open tennis tournament. British teenager Jaden Ashman won almost £1m for coming second in the duos event. Dozens of mourners ‘killed by Boko Haram’ at a funeral in north Nigeria

At least 65 people have lost their lives after suspected Boko Haram militants opened fire on a funeral in Nigeria’s north-eastern state of Borno. Gunmen arrived on motorcycles and in vans at the village near the state capital, Maiduguri, on Saturday, eyewitnesses say. A number of mourners were reportedly killed straight away, while others died trying to chase off the attackers. There has been an increase in Islamist attacks across the region. Local government official Muhammed Bulama said he thought the latest attack was in revenge for the killing of 11 Boko Haram fighters by the villagers two weeks ago….

WASHINGTON – Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats is stepping down soon after a tenure that featured clashes with President Donald Trump over Russia, North Korea, and other national security issues. Trump confirmed the departure Sunday in an email. The president also announced he will replace Coats with Rep. John Ratcliffe, R-Texas. “I would like to thank Dan for his great service to our Country,” Trump said.
